In a landmark development for agrarian reform in Mindanao, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has awarded over 33,694 hectares of agricultural land to 17,564 farmers in the Caraga Region, marking a significant milestone in the government's commitment to rural development and social justice initiatives in Mindanao.
Historic Land Distribution Ceremony
The ceremonial distribution, held at Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, represents one of the largest land reform initiatives in recent years, demonstrating the administration's dedication to strengthening local governance and development programs across the Philippines.
Regional Distribution Breakdown
- Agusan del Sur: 19,394 hectares
- Surigao del Sur: 9,594 hectares
- Surigao del Norte: 3,176 hectares
- Dinagat Islands: 922 hectares
- Agusan del Norte: 608 hectares
Comprehensive Support Package
Beyond land distribution, the initiative includes substantial agricultural support, mirroring the government's broader efforts to enhance rural infrastructure, similar to recent legislative reforms aimed at strengthening social programs. The support package includes:
- 289 units of modern farm machinery worth ₱40.4 million
- 23,588 bags of farm inputs valued at ₱19.9 million
- Debt condonation worth ₱298.9 million for 10,400 beneficiaries
"What is important is that we are together for a new beginning and a better future for all, especially for the ARBs of the Caraga Region," stated Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III during the ceremony.
This historic distribution represents a significant step forward in the administration's commitment to agricultural development and poverty alleviation in rural areas, providing thousands of farmers with the security and dignity of land ownership.
