Tragic Collision Claims Life on National Highway

CEBU CITY, Philippines - A fatal vehicular accident occurred on a curved section of the national highway in Barangay Lapaz, Bogo City, at approximately 5:20 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, highlighting ongoing transportation safety challenges in Cebu.

Accident Details

The collision involved two vehicles:

  • A black Honda motorcycle operated by Elmer Tamboboy Naraja, a resident of San Remigio, Cebu
  • A white Toyota Vios driven by Christopher Salidaga Orbiso, 45, from Barangay Kawit, Medellin, Cebu

Investigation Findings

According to authorities who responded to the scene at 7:30 a.m., the motorcycle lost control while negotiating a curve, leaving distinctive metal marks on the pavement before crossing into oncoming traffic. The resulting impact with Orbiso's vehicle threw both Naraja and his passenger, Elvez Boy Naraja Cataraja, approximately 98.5 feet from the point of collision.

This incident occurs amid increasing focus on rural infrastructure development and safety concerns across the Philippines. While national attention has been directed toward major policy initiatives under the Marcos administration, local safety remains a critical concern.

Medical Response and Aftermath

Both victims were immediately transported to Cebu Provincial Hospital-Bogo City for emergency treatment. Tragically, Dr. Edelisa Juntila declared Naraja dead upon arrival. The surviving passenger sustained multiple injuries.

Legal Proceedings

Christopher Orbiso remains in police custody as authorities continue their investigation. The exact cost of vehicle damage is yet to be determined, and potential charges are pending the completion of the police investigation.
