Filipino teacher earns King Charles III MBE honor in UK
An educator originally from Tarlac City has been conferred the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III, a recognition that shines a light on the quiet dedication of Filipino teachers working far from home.
Edison David received the honor at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle last week, with Prince William and members of the Royal Family presenting the award on the King's behalf. His name first appeared in King Charles III's 2025 New Year Honours List for his work in school leadership, particularly in turning around underperforming schools and supporting disadvantaged learners.
From Tarlac to London
David's journey began in a public school in the Philippines before he made the difficult decision to move to the UK. Adapting to a completely different education system was, by his own account, one of the biggest challenges he ever faced.
