Gaming Regulator Posts Strong First-Half Performance

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) announced a significant 64.3% increase in net income, reaching P10.8 billion for the first half of 2025, compared to P6.6 billion in the previous year. This remarkable growth was primarily driven by gaming operations and license fee collections.

In a statement reminiscent of recent governmental regulatory discussions, PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco emphasized their commitment to strengthening the regulatory framework for public benefit.

Revenue Growth and Gaming Operations

The agency's total revenue reached P59 billion by end-June, marking a 14% increase from P51.8 billion year-on-year. Gaming operations and license fee shares contributed P53.4 billion, while P5.7 billion came from other services and non-gaming income.

Similar to how emerging markets navigate regulatory frameworks, PAGCOR's success demonstrates the importance of balanced oversight in the gaming sector.

Healthcare and Social Development Impact

The agency's contributions to nation-building increased by 20% to P38.1 billion, with P25.36 billion remitted to the Treasury. Notably, P12.7 billion was allocated to PhilHealth, supporting the Universal Healthcare Law implementation.

This focus on public welfare echoes recent initiatives for enhanced public safety and emergency preparedness across various government sectors.
