In a remarkable display of Filipino sporting excellence, the Philippine Yogasana Sports Association Inc.'s (PYSAI) national team made a stunning international debut at the 6th Asian Yogasana Championship, securing one gold and three silver medals at the Zayed Sports Complex.

Historic Victory for Filipino Athletes

Following in the footsteps of other Filipino athletes making waves in international competitions, Lapu-Lapu City's pride Regine Anne Rago and Chriz Nouelle Nebril demonstrated exceptional skill against seasoned competitors from yogasana powerhouses.

Medal Haul Breakdown

  • Regine Anne Rago: Gold (Artistic event), Silver (Traditional event)
  • Chriz Nouelle Nebril: Silver (Artistic event), Silver (Traditional event)

The achievement is particularly noteworthy as the team had merely three weeks of preparation time, showcasing the same determination that has characterized recent Filipino sporting breakthroughs across various disciplines.

"It was overwhelming yet fulfilling to take on this role. Winning a gold medal on my first try, against such strong competitors, makes me even happier and more grateful to carry the Philippine flag," said Rago.

Building on Success

This achievement mirrors the nation's growing sporting prowess, similar to how Cebu continues to produce exceptional athletes across various sports. PYSAI president Mary Glo Villacastin sees this as just the beginning of the Philippines' journey in international yogasana.

"Our finish gives us the added confidence and motivation to further introduce Yogasana to more Filipinos. It shows us that this is a sport where we can truly excel," Villacastin emphasized.

PYSAI welcomes aspiring yogis interested in competitive yogasana through their official Facebook Page, marking a new chapter in Philippine sports history.
