Ateneo insists Baldwin was a consultant, not an employee, in DOLE hearing

MANILA — The Ateneo de Manila University stood firm on Thursday that former Blue Eagles head coach Tab Baldwin was never an employee of the school, but a consultant. The clarification came during a Department of Labor and Employment hearing that could determine whether the school violated rules on hiring foreign nationals.
Lawyers Krisha Santos and Philippe Quimbo, representing university president Fr. Roberto Yap, told DOLE that Baldwin, a dual citizen of the United States and New Zealand, worked under a consultancy agreement, not an employment contract.
