Monterrazas Cebu Completes 24 Flood Ponds Amid CDO Debate

Mont Property Group has informed the Cebu City Council that all 24 detention ponds at the Monterrazas de Cebu development are now completed and fully operational, with total storage capacity reaching more than twice what environmental regulators require. The announcement comes as Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña continues to push for a cease-and-desist order that would halt most development activities at the 118.4-hectare site.

What did Mont Property Group tell the City Council?

In a June 15 letter, the developer laid it out plain and simple. It had rehabilitated existing detention ponds, put flood-control measures in place, and built six additional ponds since making commitments to the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region VII and the City Council. That is not small work. That is real compliance, done and delivered.
